Moving to Tumblr
To make it easier for me to update this site, Music to Hear will no longer post on this site; instead, I will be posting future updates on the new Music to Hear site on Tumblr.
Follow us there!
Hello world!
To add on to the existing Videos to Watch blog, which showcases videos of note from YouTube, Vimeo, and TED, among other video-sharing sites, I’m starting up this Music to Hear blog intended to recommend and embed songs and pieces of music that are, in my personal judgement, noteworthy.
In the near future we may add the ability for you, as a user, to recommend songs. All of this is intended, not to duplicate the functionality of existing music-sharing sites like imeem and last.fm, but to create a playlist-like blog where bored people can find tasteful pieces of art.
Whenever possible, I will attempt to embed full-length tracks such as those streaming from imeem; where full-length tracks cannot be shared, I will aim to include a sample clip at the very least. (When that is impossible to do legally, I will merely ‘recommend’ the piece by noting identifying information.)
Before I go any further with this site, I would disclaim the following:
- my personal tastes are classical, soundtrack, and crossover, with some degree of flexibility for pop, rock, and metal; I attempt to maintain an open mind, but cannot ensure that the showcase will include every genre of music
- advertisements and sponsored posts may appear on this site, and I may subtly lean towards certain products or services (usually that will be evident and disclosed) — for example, I am an affiliate of Apple, and thus may promote iTunes and iPods (certainly relevant to this site!)
- this site may not be updated very often; at most, perhaps every two days (if I have a momentary period of obsession with this site), and at the very least, perhaps every week
In any case, enjoy the music you are about to hear.
